THE USE OF ENGLISH AND SUNDANESE CODE-MIXING IN ENGLISH LEARNING PROGRAM AT PESANTREN

Abstract
This research has two objectives; those were to investigate the use of code-mixing English and Sundanese in learning English in the language class program at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Cirebon. The second is to find out what is the factor in using code-mixing in learning English. This study employed a qualitative method and the data were college using observation and interviews. To analyze the data, the researcher used several theories related to code-mixing. The study shows several types of code-mixing congruent lexical are ranked as the most frequent occurrence of code-mixing. as much (70%). Followed by the emergence of code-mixing type insertion of as much as (30%) while the code-mixing type alternation did not appear. The results showed that the factor of using code-mixing in learning English in the Language class program was to facilitate the adjustment period for new students.
